Welcome to Sorin’s Drop

I create unique, artistic pieces for home improvement and decor. My goal is simple: take ordinary spaces and functional designs, and infuse them with artistry, nature, and unexpected twists.

My aesthetic is a mix of modern, cozy, and natural—inspired by cottages, river cabins, and beach retreats, with healthy doses of fantasy and sci-fi. I love open spaces and surprises around every corner; I want someone to walk into a room and think, "This is beautiful," and then open the bathroom door and think, "Holy crap!"

Come along with me as I transform spaces, build epic seasonal projects (like dream Halloween installations), and bring creative concepts to life. The name Sorin’s Drop comes from my gaming handle and my drop in the bucket of life. May the ripples spread.

About Me

I’m David Johnson. I spent my first 40 years focused on tech, including 17 rewarding years at Adobe as a senior technical resource. During those decades, I put most of my energy into supporting friends and family, often setting my own creative passions aside. I’m also a lifelong gamer—my handle, Sorin, comes from a Melanie Rawn novel I read as a teenager, and it’s been my creative alter ego ever since. The saying, “In a world of choices, I choose to be kind.” Is my approach to life.

A few years ago, life shifted. With the love and support of my fiancé, Kenny, I was finally given the space and encouragement to rebuild my life around what truly brings me joy: making things with my own hands. My family—Kenny, my brother- and sister-in-law, my niece, nephew, and our two dogs—will occasionally make appearances as we tackle these builds together.

Building large-scale pieces is physical work, and through this creative lifestyle change, I've gone from over 450 pounds to under 350. I'm building my fitness so I can build the things I’ve always dreamed of making.

Now, it’s finally my turn to create—and I'd love for you to be part of the journey.
